About Me
I was born in Bristol, Tennessee and raised in a Christian home. During the early part of life I attended Virginia Avenue Baptist Church where at the age of 10, I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and
Soon after meeting my dear wife and soul mate, Nancy, I joined North Bristol Baptist Church in Bristol, Va. God has given us a very special relationship and we are blessed to have three children, Sarah (Worley), Mary (Bowman), David, and one very special granddaughter, “Queen” Elizabeth Grace Worley.
God called me to preach in the summer of 1981, and I soon had several opportunities to minister. I served on the staff of North Bristol Baptist Church and preached as often as possible.
It has been my privilege to receive educational training and degrees from King College in Bristol (B. A.) and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis (M. Div., D. Min.). While in college my major was classical languages (Latin and Greek) and in seminary I focused on Bible and Christian theology.
God has been so gracious to allow me to serve three churches over the past twenty-five years of ministry: Knowles Baptist Church in Strong, Arkansas (part-time pastorate while in seminary); Halls Westside Baptist Church in Halls, Tennessee (12 years), and Liberty Baptist Church in Bristol since June 1998.
During these years of ministry I have always felt assured of God’s calling on my life as a Pastor-Teacher. In addition to serving as pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, I have taught Bible to 11th graders at Tri-Cities Christian Schools since 2002. My passion is to preach and teach the Word of God, to explain it accurately and apply it practically. The Bible is “the word of grace” to both unbelievers and believers. It has the unique power to produce spiritual life and support spiritual growth. There are many things I do as a pastor each week, but none more important than the ministry of teaching and preaching the inspired and inerrant Word of God.
Thanks for visiting our website. I hope the sermons and Bible studies will be a blessing to you. Please write and let us know how these resources are helping.
